Cremation

Traditional Fire Cremation

Fire cremation is a process in which a deceased person's body is put into a furnace or incinerator to create ashes. The ashes are then returned to the funeral home or family in an urn or vessel of the families choosing.

Direct Traditional Fire Cremation

Is a cremation that takes place when the family do not wish to have a service for their loved one.

This process starts by us collecting your loved one and bringing them into our care here at Townsville Funerals, Cremations and Crematorium. Once your loved one is ready for cremation, they’re placed into a ‘cremation box’ (or coffin if you have purchased once) and taken to the crematorium of your choosing either Woongarra (located Bruce Hwy, Julago QLD 4816) or to the Whitsunday Crematorium (located West Street Bowen Qld 4805). The cremation will take place on their premises and once completed we will collect your loved one’s ashes and bring them back into our care. You’re then contacted to collect your loved one or we can post the ashes to you (additional postage fees apply) within Australia.

Your loved one’s ashes are returned to you in an interment urn or the urn of your choosing (at the additional cost of the chosen urn).
